Today, after two months delay,
House Democrats unveiled the Health Care Program to cover the uninsured more importantly to regulate strict rules to these Greedy Health Insurers and yes by enforcing employers (small and big business) to provide Health Insurance for their employees or face penalties. By 2013, everyone should be covered no matter what their income, financial situation and background and Health Insurers aren't pleased with that decision but enough it enough with their shady, fraudulent and anti-trusting practices.
My opinion of all this is a relief. Sincerely, I can't afford getting sick. It feels like getting sick is a punishment, even thought I pay my taxes, I'm a hardworking person and a good citizen. It makes me sick hearing stories from strangers and relatives their experiences with Health, how they're being denied of non-existing conditions, how their coverage are being denied after they found out some small loop. How they went on bankruptcy because they can't afford to pay large sums for going to the ER, how the doctors are turning their backs on the uninsured, by not helping them or even worst not showing up on "Free Clinics," and other stories so on. The fact is, I'm getting sick too, not because of poor health, not because I want to get sick but things sometimes are occurring beyond my control and there's no way to avoid it. I went personally to Dirne Clinic which is a federally qualified health center to ask for an appointment. When I entered that place, it was very different when you go to a private doctor, it was a little bit crowded, after I ask, the receptionist gave me a card and tell me to call that number. I left there in the WTF moment. I came home, and my husband decided to call the next day, to his surprise he didn't like the way the so-called receptionist was handling the call. It was like she didn't care about the uninsured or anybody. Sadly, one of their mission statements on their website says
"
OUR MISSION: To provide access to quality, comprehensive, integrated and preventative health care to the underserved of our community with compassion and through collaboration and innovation.
The receptionist told him that to schedule an appointment he have to wait until the end of November to call. I remember the first time that I called a year ago, she told me that I have to wait for 6 months to schedule an appointment. He was pissed. So he decided to call the Private Doctor at Mountain Health to schedule an appointment, the cost? $150.00 and we have to split the payment and I have to be there on Nov 6 for that appointment. It's stupid!
But I'm glad that there's going to be expansions on Medicaid, which I hope Idaho will achieve it because it's enough of seeing people die, families beg to save a life by putting empty gallons of milk on the supermarkets because of a strange and deadly illness and people losing their home because of the high cost of Health Care.
